Add a learning loop to a game https://patrickz.ai/learn/add-learning-to-a-game/ OUTCOME Design a game interaction that checks understanding and still works without a microphone. YOU NEED A small game prototype or a paper sketch, a chat assistant and three verified facts from any subject. LINKS Project lab: Build a small language-learning game: https://patrickz.ai/learn/language-game-lab/ 1. Choose the learning action Use one task such as answering a history question to open a gate or putting recipe steps in order. Define what the player should learn, not only what earns points. 2. Separate lesson data Store the question, verified answer, explanation and retry hint apart from game graphics. This lets someone who knows the subject check the content without touching the game. 3. Keep input alternatives Let a player speak or tap/type an answer. If microphone access fails, preserve progression. Never claim a pronunciation score when only text was assessed. 4. Test learning and play separately Check correct, incorrect and unanswered cases. Then ask the player a new example outside the game. Record playability and learning evidence as different results. PROMPT Design one learning encounter for [topic]. Verified learning items: [items]. Include prompt, answer, explanation, retry hint and progression rule. Support text/tap input if voice is unavailable. Give separate tests for game state and actual understanding. EXAMPLE / EXPERIMENT Defeating a monster after clicking the highlighted answer may prove the combat trigger works. Explaining a new phrase without that highlight is a better learning check. CHECK YOUR RESULT [ ] A wrong answer gives useful feedback and a retry. [ ] Microphone denial does not block the lesson. [ ] A transfer question (a new example the game never showed) checks understanding separately from score. IF IT FAILS If the game rewards guessing, change the explanation or transfer check. Keep release notes honest about playtest status and unfinished content. MY RESULT / NEXT CHANGE
